The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) has now launched IHI – call 6 and IHI – call 7.

IHI – call 6
IHI – call 6 is a two-stage call for proposals with the following topics:

Topic 1: Support healthcare system resilience through a focus on persistency in the treatment of chronic diseases
Topic 2: Development of evidence based practical guidance for sponsors on the use of real-world data / real-world evidence

Deadline for short proposals: 16 April 2024 at 17:00 Brussels time
Deadline for full proposals: 10 October 2024 at 17:00 Brussels time

IHI – call 7
IHI – call 7 is a single-stage call for proposals with the following topics:

Topic 1: Improving clinical management of heart disease from early detection to treatment
Topic 2: User-centric technologies and optimised hospital workflows for a sustainable healthcare workforce
Topic 3: Clinical validation of biomarkers for diagnosis, monitoring disease progression and treatment response

Info sessions and networking
The IHI Call Days for calls 6 & 7 are running from 10 January to 25 January 2024 inclusive. They include info sessions on the topics, our rules & procedures, and preparing the financial parts of the proposal, as well as pitching sessions on the topics. Participants can also use the Call Days website to identify and meet potential project partners. The recordings of these info sessions are also available online. 2024 Research call on “mechanisms and measurement of disease progression in the early phase of neurodegenerative diseases”

On January 4, 2024, the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) initiative launched a transnational call for mechanisms and measurement of disease progression in the early phase of neurodegenerative diseases with the aim of improving the understanding of disease mechanisms and advancing measurability of disease progression at early and pre-symptomatic stages of neurodegenerative diseases. Proposals to this call must be ambitious, innovative, multi-disciplinary and multi-national, i.e. include research teams from at least three different countries. They must be hypothesis driven and should have a strong focus on methodology.

Pre-proposals must be submitted no later than 12:00h C.E.T. on March 5, 2024, via the electronic submission tool.

Funding: The total made available for this call is about 18 million euros.

Identification or Validation of Targets for Personalised Medicine Approaches (PMTargets)

The European Partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed), supported by the European Union under Horizon Europe (Grant Agreement N° 101137129), launches its first joint transnational call (JTC2024) for proposals on “Identification or Validation of Targets for Personalised Medicine Approaches (PMTargets)”. In total, 39 funding organisations participate in this call with an available budget of over 45 Mio€.

AFM-Telethon International Thematic Call for Projects 2023 focused on: Innovative Mitochondrial Medicine

AFM-Telethon is pleased to announce the launch of its first international call for proposals for Translational Research Projects on « A single therapeutic product for several mitochondrial disorders ». The MitoNice Congress, organized in September 2022 by the AFM-Telethon along with the 7 th International Myology Congress, highlighted that mitochondrial medicine has moved from the identification of the genes involved in mitochondrial diseases to the development of therapeutic options. To accelerate this progress towards therapeutic solutions for patients who urgently need it, this call is open to any research project on primary mitochondrial diseases that will develop a therapeutic approach targeting several mitochondrial diseases.

AFM-Téléthon launches Scientific and Medical Research Call for Proposals for 2023

AFM Téléthon (France) launches a scientific call for proposals for 2023, open both to French and foreign teams. The aim is to support:

Fundamental Research and Physiopathology of Diseases of the Neuromuscular System
Development of Innovative Therapeutic Approaches for Rare Genetic Diseases

Along with this call, AFM Téléthon also launches a medical research call in neuromuscular disorders, having various topics of interest (patients’ management/paramedical care, neonatal screening projects, E-Health and information technologies, assessment of new evaluation criteria, natural history of disease and/or epidemiological studies).

International call for research proposals on rare cancer drug development

Five European anti-cancer charities (Fundación científica Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (Spain); The Anticancer Fund (Belgium); Fondation ARC (France); Kom op tegen Kanker (Belgium); Dutch Cancer Society (The Netherlands)) are joining forces to stimulate international research on rare cancer drug development. The focus of this joint international call, the ATTRACT-Call, is on late phase (2/3) clinical trials on rare cancer drugs. Improving treatment for rare cancers as well as bringing drug development to the next developmental stage are two of the current target goals.

The target opening date of the ATTRACT-Call is Tuesday, 22 November 2022. Grant decisions are foreseen in November 2023. Detailed and definitive timelines will follow.
