Inserm organises Scientific Symposium on Rare Diseases

In the framework of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (PFUE 2022), and under the high patronage of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI), Inserm (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research) is organising a scientific symposium on Rare Diseases.

The hybrid conference (in-person for specially invited attendees and online for other attendees) will be held on-site and online on February 28th from 09.00 – 12.30 CET at the Ministry of Solidarity and Health, Paris, France.

The objective of this conference will be to review the current state of research and the means implemented for the diagnosis, care and treatment of rare diseases, and the expected prospects for increased collaboration – between Member States of the European Union, public and private partners, research actors – on a European scale.

Dr. Daria Julkowska, EJP RD Coordinator, will be one of the speakers at the conference.

International Scientific Symposium on the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders

The Ehlers-Danlos Society is organising the International Scientific Symposium on the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD), a state-of-the-art meeting in which new research on clinical advances and the molecular and pathogenic mechanisms underlying EDS and related syndromes will be discussed.

This hybrid event will take place in Rome, Italy (Fontana di Trevi Conference Centre) and online (virtual registration options will be released soon) over five days from September 14th – 18th.

The event will bring together leading experts, clinicians, and scientists in the field of the EDS and HSD for a high quality, scientific program with a focus on “Translational Medicine in EDS and HSD – from Basic Science to Community.”

The symposium is targeted towards clinicians and researchers with an interest in the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes. The programme for September 14th – 17th is suitable for healthcare professionals, whereas the agenda of September 18th is suitable for members of the EDS and HSD community, their families, and caregivers.

CeBIL Annual Symposium 2021 – Orphan Drug Innovation: Needs and Priorities

The Centre for Advanced Studies in Biomedical Innovation Law (CeBIL) at the University of Copenhagen and the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Law, Medicine and Life Sciences (LML) are jointly organising the 2021 Annual Symposium on the theme of Orphan Drug Innovation: Needs and Priorities. The event is targeted towards legal,
economic, business, medical, and scientific experts at a range of career stages.

The fully online event will take place on September 17th from 15.00 – 17.30 CET.

The symposium aims to identify and explore the most pressing priorities in orphan drug innovation, and whether and how social science research, particularly legal research, can help meet these needs. The international showcase of speakers and panellists includes Terkel Andersen (EURORDIS), Jakob Wested (Danish Medicines Agency & CeBIL), Sarah Rickwood (IQVIA) and Sven Bostyn (University of Copenhagen).

Ubiquitous Pharmacogenomics (U-PGx) Personalized Medicine Symposium

The Golden Helix Foundation and the Leiden University Medical Center, both partners of the Ubiquitous Pharmacogenomics (U-PGx) project, are co-organising the Personalized Medicine Symposium 2021.

The symposium will take place in Leiden, the Netherlands over two days from October 27th – 28th.

This international event is open for clinical pharmacologists, hospital pharmacists, general pharmacists, specialists, general practitioners, medical students, laboratory technicians, regulators, healthcare insurers and others interested in pharmacogenomics.

The U-PGx consortium will address major challenges and obstacles for implementation of pharmacogenomics testing in patient care, taking into account the diversity of healthcare systems and citizens across Europe.

EOSC Symposium 2021: Implementing an inclusive European Open Science Cloud

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Secretariat is organising a symposium on the theme of “Implementing an inclusive European Open Science Cloud”, representing an inclusive platform for all open science community stakeholders to share objectives, visions, activities and results in order to shape the future of the EOSC that is now in the implementation phase (2021–2027).

The fully online symposium will take place over four days from June 15th – 18th from 09.00 – 15.15 CET.

The symposium programme features a keynote address by Marialuisa Lavitrano, Director of the EOSC Association, as well as sessions on the following themes:

June 15th: EOSC Ecosystem
June 16th: EOSC Governance and Association
June 17th: Implementation priorities (engagement with research infrastructures, sustainability, technical challenges)
