Endocrine cancer: a challenge in adults and children

Concept
The term endocrine cancer involves, among others, thyroid carcinoma, adrenocortical carcinoma, malignant pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas, and multiple endocrine neoplasia syndromes. The recognized experts will discuss these diseases during the workshop. We focus on the current knowledge and EBM (evidence-based medicine) criteria, contemporary trends in diagnostics and treatment, differences in approach between adults and children, molecular background – possibilities of the personalized therapy, multidisciplinary management – an up-to-date approach.

Aim
The workshop aims at giving an update on molecular background and clinical management of rare endocrine malignancies.

Endocrinologists, oncologists, surgeons, radiotherapists, internists and pediatricians, pathologists, radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists – employees of affiliated to an ERN-Full Member or affiliated Partner institution. The approximate number of participants is 70.

Lectures and discussion. Posters presenting some cases are also invited. They will be presented and discussed during the Workshop.

The training workshop is free of charge.  Travel and hotel expenses will be reimbursed for all selected (max 20) ERN participants. Lunch and dinner will be provided on site for all participants.

Affiliated to an ERN-Full Member or Affiliated Partner institution.

The organizer together with one member of the WP17 Scientific Evaluation Committee will select the most appropriate ERN participants. Priority will be given to authors of submitted posters. Registration for the workshop is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Important update and information for already registered applicants: registration deadline has been extended and closes on March 7th, 2022. The applicants who applied before January 28th 2022, will receive final decision regarding their application on March 21st, 2022.

At the end of the training workshop a Certificate of Attendance will be sent to the participants who attended the entire workshop and completed the survey. 
Credits of Continuing Education in Medicine might be issued – to be informed as soon as possible, if there is such a possibility. 

Workshops will run in English.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be more familiar with rare endocrine malignancies. The attendees will be able to understand the necessity of treatment deescalation in differentiated thyroid carcinoma, the molecular background of adrenal carcinoma, and genetic predisposition to pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma. They will learn how to prevent MEN 2B-related tumors in children to improve their prognosis and how to manage rare endocrine cancers during pregnancy.
